What should a recognition be about?

If you're looking for guidance on how to right a 'good' post, read this guide.

You know your colleagues best and have likely appreciated them before. What matters is that your recognitions are meaningful and timely, much like when you encourage a pupil.

Typically, recognitions will fall under one of these categories...

We've found that for most people, it's counter-productive to send posts relating to:

  • Day-to-day duties e.g. Thanks for doing the 1-1 readers
  • Accomplishments outside of work (unless you think they'll appreciate that)
  • Referring to their potential

Don't overthink it, you know what will mean something to your colleague and make them feel good about themselves and positive. Recognise them for those things.

How often should I send posts of recognitions?

Everyone should send at least one recognition post each week to boost staff morale by highlighting the many positive actions in school. You can recognise anyone in your school or MAT, including your headteacher and senior leadership team.
